Prince Was In A ‘Panic’ Over Losing His Memory Before His Passing, Former Bassist Says

Music icon Prince was reportedly worried his memory was deteriorating before his de@th, according to a former bandmate.

BrownMark, who played bass in Prince’s band The Revolution, said he noticed troubling changes in the singer’s behavior, including moments of confusion and forgetfulness that made him believe “something was not right with his memory.” He recalled that after years of limited contact, Prince unexpectedly reached out and invited him to Minneapolis to work together again. However, once he arrived, the situation reportedly became disorienting, with BrownMark saying #Prince appeared to have forgotten he had even extended the invitation as part of a reconciliation.

BrownMark told Page Six he ended up waiting in his hotel room for days after landing with no word from Prince. He claimed that when the situation was eventually brought to Prince’s attention, the superstar simply responded, “Oh, I forgot.” After they eventually reconnected, BrownMark said Prince’s condition appeared to worsen. He described arriving for a planned studio session and seeing Prince freeze upon making eye contact. “You could see the panic in his face because you can see he just remembered what he had done,” he said, hinting that Prince again seemed to have forgotten their prior discussions. “His memory was like really, really shot at that point,” BrownMark added.

BrownMark also suggested Prince’s alleged memory struggles may have been connected to substance use issues. Prince d!ed on April 21, 2016, at age 57 from an accidental overdose of fentanyl. “Man, [pills] just clouds your memory. And I think that’s what was happening with him because he was heavily relying upon opioids for his pain, for his hip,” BrownMark said.
