UPDATE: Beyoncé’s Former Dance Captain Ashley Everett Receives Room Upgrade From Virgin Voyages After Slamming Cruise Line For Alleged Discrimination & Mistreatment During Brand Trip
#AshleyEverett is ready to move past the drama.
The professional dancer recently shared an update following an unfortunate experience aboard a #VirginVoyages ship, letting fans know the company didn’t brush off her concerns. Ashley, who’s also celebrating her birthday, posted a card from the cruise line wishing her well and revealing she’d been upgraded to a suite for the rest of her trip. Seemingly accepting the gesture, she responded, “Okayyyyyy, I receive??.”
The upgrade comes after Ashley accused Virgin Voyages of mistreatment and alleged discrimination after inviting her out to sea for a brand trip. ICYMI: the former dance captain for #Beyoncé claimed she was abruptly removed from a stage while dancing to “Single Ladies,” a moment that raised eyebrows considering she’s one of the standout performers in the song’s iconic music video. Ashley said she was told to leave because “someone complained.” She also alleged that after she was removed, they “let all the complaining white folks up on that same stage.” Ashley didn’t hold back, adding, “Virgin Voyages wants black creators and all their sauce-but doesn’t acknowledge, highlight, or actually know them…??? Weird.” The peace offering from VV seems to have eased some tensions, but whether it fully makes up for the bad experience is another story.
