Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani Breathing On His Own After Being Hospitalized w/ Pneumonia & Placed On A Ventilator, Spokesperson Says
Former New York City Mayor #RudyGiuliani is breathing on his own after being hospitalized with pneumonia and initially placed on a ventilator, according to his spokesperson.
The 81-year-old remains in critical but stable condition at a Florida hospital, where he’s being closely monitored as a precaution. His spokesperson said the illness was worsened by a preexisting restrictive airway disease tied to Giuliani’s exposure to dust and toxins following the Sept. 11, 2001, attack on the World Trade Center. They added, “This condition adds complications to any respiratory illness, and the virus quickly overwhelmed his body, requiring mechanical ventilation to maintain adequate oxygen and stabilize his condition.” Giuliani was rushed to the hospital over the weekend, with few details shared at the time. The health scare follows a recent coughing spell on his online talk show, where he told viewers his voice was “a little under the weather.”
Giuliani, who previously served as #DonaldTrump’s personal lawyer, represented Trump in lawsuits challenging the 2020 election results. He was later disbarred in New York and Washington, D.C., over his role in those efforts. Reacting to the situation, Trump wrote on Truth Social, “Our fabulous Rudy Giuliani, a True Warrior, and the Best Mayor in the History of New York City, BY FAR, has been hospitalized, and is in critical condition.” He added, “What a tragedy that he was treated so badly by the Radical Left Lunatics, Democrats ALL — AND HE WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING!”
