Claressa Shields Speaks Out After Slapping Fellow Boxer Alycia Baumgardner During Heated Confrontation, Says She ‘Didn’t Sneak Anybody’ & You Can’t Go Around Threatening People’
#ClaressaShields is speaking out and giving her side of things.
Footage is currently making the rounds online showing the undisputed boxing champ in a heated exchange with junior lightweight titleholder Alycia Baumgardner over the weekend, ringside at the Intuit Dome in #Inglewood. While it’s tough to hear exactly what was said, the clip appears to show Claressa reaching out and making contact with Alycia before the crowd quickly steps in to separate them. The camera angle also makes it unclear what actually landed, but some say Claressa simply slapped Alycia’s hand away when she went in for a shake, while others are convinced she struck her in the face.
Appearing to respond to the moment, #Claressa took to X, writing, “Imma continue giving b*tches hell respectfully that lil *ss girl said “I’ll beat your *ss right now” after already disrespecting me. Now you classy and playing victim. Can’t go around threatening people, take that ?? & try and GET YOUR LICK BACK! #GWOAT” When accused of sucker punching Alycia, she fired back, “I didn’t sneak anybody …. I was right there in her face.” Claress added, “I have plenty of class. She threatened me. Called me all kind of B*tches too.” Alycia hasn’t directly addressed the incident, but she did post a body image with the caption, “This is why you mad.”
