Former Pro Basketball Player DeAndre Kane Arrested Over Alleged $100K+ Child Support Debt
Former professional basketball player DeAndre Kane is facing legal trouble after authorities arrested him over an alleged six-figure child support debt.
According to the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office, Kane was taken into custody at Pittsburgh International Airport after returning from Iceland, where he has reportedly been playing professional basketball. Officials say the former college basketball standout owes more than $100,000 in unpaid child support.
Authorities allege Kane had been wanted since 2023 after failing to appear for a Family Court hearing connected to missed child support payments. Investigators reportedly learned he would be arriving back in Pittsburgh and arrested him upon his return to the United States.
Following his arrest, Kane was transported to the Allegheny County Jail, where he is expected to appear before a Family Court judge.
The 36-year-old Pittsburgh native made a name for himself on the court long before his professional career overseas. After starring at Schenley High School, Kane went on to play at Iowa State University, where he earned First-Team All-Big 12 honors and helped lead the Cyclones to the Sweet 16 during the 2013-14 season.
Kane later spent more than a decade playing professionally, primarily overseas, after going undrafted in the NBA.
