Knicks Set To Make History As First NBA Team To Visit White House During Trump’s Presidency, James Dolan Confirms

The New York Knicks’ 2026 championship celebration may soon include a history-making trip to Washington, D.C.

According to Yahoo Sports, team owner James Dolan said Wednesday that the Knicks have accepted an invitation to visit Donald Trump at the White House, which would make them the first NBA team to do so during Trump’s presidency.

“We just did receive an invitation from the White House, which we accepted. We still have to figure out the details, etc., but yes, of course. Look, I invited the president to come down for the game. He is a friend, I’ve known him for 30 years and I’m very proud to bring the team to the White House.”

Trump attended Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden, where the Knicks suffered their only loss in a five-game championship series against the San Antonio Spurs. His appearance made him the first sitting president to attend an NBA Finals game, though he was met with loud boos from the crowd.

It is still unclear how many players or staff members will attend the White House visit. No NBA champion visited Trump during his first term, with several teams either declining or skipping the tradition.
