Ice Cube’s BIG3 Suspends Lance Stephenson & Michael Beasley After On-Court Altercation
Ice Cube is taking action after a heated altercation involving two of the BIG3’s biggest stars.
The BIG3 announced that former NBA players Lance Stephenson and Michael Beasley have each been suspended for one game following their actions during and after Saturday’s matchup between the Miami 305 and the LA Riot. According to an official statement released by the league, officials reviewed the incident and determined that both players’ conduct fell short of the professionalism, respect, and sportsmanship expected of BIG3 athletes.
The league emphasized that while physical play and trash talk are part of the game, fighting will not be tolerated. The statement noted that protecting the integrity of the league and ensuring the safety of everyone on and around the court remains a top priority.
To minimize roster disruptions, the suspensions will be served separately. Stephenson will sit out Week 2, while Beasley will serve his suspension during Week 3 of the BIG3 season. The decision was signed by BIG3 Commissioner Clyde Drexler.
BIG3 co-founder Ice Cube also addressed the incident on social media, issuing an apology to fans who tuned in to watch the game on CBS.
“Apologies to everybody watching the Miami 305 vs. LA Riot on CBS yesterday. We all wanted to see a great basketball game. That wasn’t it,” Ice Cube wrote.
Video of the confrontation quickly circulated online, sparking reactions from basketball fans and reigniting discussion about the intense competitiveness that has helped make the BIG3 a popular destination for former NBA stars. While the league welcomes physical play, officials made it clear that crossing the line into fighting will come with consequences.
