Tristan Thompson Says Boston Celtics’ Fans ‘Go Call You The N-Word, + Salutes Jaylen Brown For Taking A Stand ‘For Our People’
The #BostonCeltics may never beat those toxic fandom allegations.
#TristanThompson is the latest to speak out, claiming it’s not uncommon for Black NBA players to be called the n-word when visiting TD Garden. Ironically, Tristan actually suited up for Boston during the 2020–2021 season, but recalled to Shannon Sharpe a moment when an upset fan allegedly hurled the slur at him after he declined to take a photo.
He also took time to show love to #JaylenBrown for how he’s handled similar situations over the years. Brown—who was shockingly traded to the Philadelphia 76ers this week—hasn’t held back when it comes to calling out racism in Boston. As he previously put it, “I definitely think there’s a group or an amount within the Celtic nation that is extremely toxic and does not want to see athletes use their platform, or they just want you to play basketball and entertain and go home. And that’s a problem to me.”
