Trump Privately Discussing Possible Diddy Pardon Ahead Of New Round Of Pardons, Sources Say
Could Sean “Diddy” Combs be next in line for presidential clemency?
According to a new report from CBS News, President Donald Trump is privately discussing the possibility of granting Diddy a presidential pardon as he prepares to announce a new round of clemency decisions. Sources familiar with the matter told the outlet that no final decision has been made, but the Bad Boy Records founder is among the names being considered.
The discussions reportedly come just days after Diddy was convicted on two federal counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was acquitted of the more serious racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges following his highly publicized federal trial. He remains in custody while awaiting sentencing.
CBS News reports that Trump was expected to meet with advisers before determining which clemency requests will move forward. A White House official told the outlet that “President Trump is the ultimate decider on any clemency related actions,” emphasizing that no decisions are final until the president signs off.
If granted, a presidential pardon would mark a dramatic development in one of the entertainment industry’s most closely watched legal cases. As of now, neither Trump nor Diddy’s representatives have publicly confirmed that a pardon will be issued.
