Kevin Durant Fires Back At LeBron James Critics: “Who Cares What Miserable Fans Think?”
As social media erupted over speculation that LeBron James could sign with the Philadelphia 76ers on a reported $4 million deal, Kevin Durant jumped into the conversation on Threads to defend his longtime NBA peer against critics accusing him of “ring chasing.”
The debate began after a viral post claimed that a move to Philadelphia would be “a slap in the face” to Los Angeles Lakers fans. While some commenters argued LeBron would simply be chasing another championship, Durant pushed back, writing:
“Everybody in the NBA is either chasing rings, shot attempts, or money.”
When one user suggested LeBron was simply a “ring chaser,” Durant responded:
“Who cares how it looks to miserable fans that hate everything. Just shut up and tune in like u always were gonna do.”
Durant continued defending the four-time NBA champion throughout the thread, adding:
“LeBron embodies the game of basketball, I’m defending the game itself.”
He also dismissed ongoing GOAT debates, writing:
“Goat list are the most watered down thing next to BBLs, skinny jeans, podcasts, content creators, streamers, rappers. Yall burnt it all out.”
When another fan questioned LeBron’s legacy compared to Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, Durant replied that fans often take their opinions too personally.
“Yall niggas be too emotional… how u feel don’t change the truth about what he’s produced as a basketball player. U don’t know this man personally but have personal disdain like he really f***ed your life up. U in too deep my boy.”
Neither LeBron James nor the Philadelphia 76ers have publicly addressed the speculation surrounding the reported deal, but Durant made one thing clear—he believes criticism of LeBron often says more about the critics than the player.
