Miami Secret Service Agent Charged With Five Felonies, Including Attempted Manslaughter, In Kappa Alpha Psi Hazing That Left One Victim Intubated To Prevent Further Physical Deterioration & De@th’
A U.S. Secret Service agent has been arrested and charged with five felony counts after allegedly playing a lead role in a fraternity hazing ritual in #Miami-Dade County that left two victims with life-threatening injuries.
Marquez Pinder, 29, a special agent with the Miami Field Office, is accused of serving as “dean of pledges” during four separate hazing sessions for a chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, and now faces charges including two counts of aggravated battery with a de@dly weapon, two counts of attempted manslaughter with a de@dly weapon, and one count of hazing with a de@dly weapon. Court records allege the two victims were repeatedly struck with paddles and canes over the four-day span, with one victim’s report of “urinating blood” reportedly dismissed by fraternity members during the first session.

One victim later required intubation and “critical care to prevent further physical deterioration and de@th,” while the other suffered blackened and necrotic tissue that required surgical removal and extensive skin grafts. Investigators say the victims were quizzed on fraternity history and forced into a “stress position” — a half-squat with one arm extended — whenever they answered incorrectly, and were struck with a paddle while in that position. Two other alleged participants, Jared James and Elijah Dyous, face identical charges. Pinder, who has worked for the #SecretService since September 2023, is currently on administrative leave, and the national #KappaAlphaPsi organization has said it maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy on hazing.
