Tupac Shakur M*rder Suspect Keefe D Says Police Owe Him An Apology For Charging Him In His 1996 D*ath
Duane “Keefe D” Davis wants the Tupac Shakur m*rder case dismissed, with his attorney arguing prosecutors lacked evidence and owe him an apology.
Davis’ lawyer, Mike Sanft, challenged the case ahead of August 10 jury selection.
“If they really done their job, he would not have been charged,” Sanft told The U.S. Sun.
Davis, 63, was arrested in September 2023 and accused of orchestrating the 1996 Las Vegas drive-by sh**ting that k*lled Shakur. Prosecutors have cited Davis’ interviews, memoir and statements to law enforcement, but his defense says those accounts were exaggerated for publicity and money. Sanft called the remarks “not in good taste,” while arguing they were protected speech.
Sanft also denied reports of a plea offer.
“In picking a jury, the number one promise that we expect from our jurors is that they will be fair and impartial to both the state, as well as Duane, and that they will reserve their judgment until the close of the evidence on the case is then given to them,” Sanft said.
“I have an ethical duty to never try my case in the media prior to the jury being picked and sequestered.”
