Selena Gomez & Mom Sued For Allegedly Defrauding Investors Out Of $1 Million In Mental Health Startup
#SelenaGomez and her mother, #MandyTeefey, are facing a lawsuit accusing them of deceiving investors into pouring more than $1 million into their mental health company, Wondermind Global, while the business was quietly falling apart behind the scenes.
According to docs obtained by TMZ, the suit, filed by investment firms Wondermind SRS 44 LLC and Bespoke Wondermind LLC, names Wondermind, Gomez, Teefey and former business partner Daniella Pierson as defendants, alleging the trio misrepresented the company’s infrastructure and leadership to secure funding — with Gomez’s TV appearances and interviews cited as key selling points that drew investors in. The complaint further claims Gomez appeared deeply involved in the company early on but did little once the money came in, while Pierson allegedly exaggerated her business track record and the returns investors could expect.
__________
The investors were allegedly kept in the dark for years, with the filing stating, “for three years, while the company quietly collapsed around them, not one of its founders, officers or directors said a word to the investors.” Investors say they only learned the truth after a September 2025 exposé from The Cut described Wondermind as being in disarray, detailing Teefey’s alleged substance abuse struggles, mismanagement, and Gomez’s alleged neglect of her responsibilities. When confronted about the article’s claims, the suit alleges Teefey attempted to shift blame onto Pierson, who had already exited the company by then.
__________
Teefey has denied the substance abuse allegations and disputed claims the company was in turmoil, telling the outlet at the time, “It’s unfortunate that a few disgruntled employees with an ax to grind can spread lies about me and distort the truth.” The plaintiffs are suing for securities fraud, seeking the return of their investment along with unspecified additional damages.
