Lil Durk’s M*rder-For-Hire Trial Begins, Prosecutors Say Rapper Was ‘Consumed With Revenge’ & Put Bounty On Quando Rondo

During opening statements Monday (Aug. 24), prosecutors alleged the Grammy-winning rapper, born Durk Banks, was “consumed with revenge” following the 2020 k#lling of his close friend and fellow rapper King Von. Prosecutors claim Durk put a bounty on rapper Quando Rondo and set a plan in motion to “stalk, hunt and k!ll” him. Quando survived the August 2022 ambush near Los Angeles’ Beverly Center, but his 24-year-old cousin, Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson, was fatally sh0t.

Durk’s defense strongly pushed back, arguing that he had nothing to do with the alleged plot. His attorney reportedly pointed the finger at Durk’s former personal assistant, Kavon “Cuz” Grant, alleging Grant handled logistics including hotels, vehicles and ski masks. Grant has taken a plea deal and is expected to testify for the government. Durk’s defense is expected to argue that cooperating witnesses are implicating the rapper in an effort to receive lighter sentences.

Durk, 33, has pleaded not guilty. Prosecutors are expected to present testimony from multiple cooperating witnesses as they attempt to prove Durk was behind the alleged m*rder-for-hire scheme. If convicted on the most serious charges, he could face life in federal prison.
