Tyrese Reveals Kim Kardashian & Ray J’s S3x Tape Scandal Inspired His Hit Record “How You Gonna Act Like That”

#Tyrese is claiming that his 2002 hit “How You Gonna Act Like That,” from the album I Wanna Go There, was inspired by #KimKardashian’s alleged infidelity toward her then-husband, Damon Thomas — one of the song’s co-writers. On The Kenny Burns Show, Tyrese said he lived with Damon and Kim K for three years while working on the album, and claimed he witnessed the fallout when #RayJ’s s3x tape with Kim came to light: “I’ll leave it at this: When everything happened with Ray J, I was there. All of it. I seen all of it.” When pressed for specifics, he clarified, “No, no, no. Meaning like, I was there whenever that s3x tape happened and I was there for all of it. Damon was my brother. I was literally at the crib.”

When Burns noted the song had landed at No. 51 on Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 Greatest R&B Songs of the 21st Century, Tyrese said he was unaware of the honor and explained the song’s origin: “It was inspired by wondering, how did she act like that while she was with Damon?” Kim and Damon divorced in 2003, the same year the s3x tape was reportedly filmed; it was released publicly in 2007. Damon previously told In Touch Weekly in 2010 that Kim had cheated on him with “multiple guys,” a claim she denied.
