Megan Thee Stallion Admits She Was ‘Losing Myself While Dating NBA Star Klay Thompson: I Just Kept Trying To Make Pieces Fit That Didn’t Belong
#MeganTheeStallion is opening up about her split from #KlayThompson.
ICYMI: the rapper and #NBA star called it quits in April after roughly a year together, with Megan seemingly alluding to cheating when she announced the breakup on Instagram, writing, “Trust, fidelity, and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship and when those values are compromised, there’s no real path forward.”
Now, in a new interview with InStyle, Megan admits the breakup took a serious toll on her, saying, “I feel like I’ve been put through the washing machine and the dryer with tins, shovels, and a cactus.” She went on to reflect on how the relationship affected her sense of self, explaining, “I think I just kept trying to make pieces fit that didn’t belong, trying to fit myself into someone else’s life. I was losing myself a little bit. I am now in the space of finding me again.”
Megan says the experience also taught her exactly what she will — and won’t — accept in a relationship moving forward. “I cannot be disrespected. I cannot be a person who is not gonna be me,” she said, making it clear she has no plans to shrink herself for a partner. And when it comes to infidelity, Megan wants women to know they shouldn’t blame themselves, adding, “People cheating on you, that doesn’t have anything to do with you. You’re not less attractive. You’re not less of a good person.”
