Tennis Star Taylor Townsend Withdraws From Tournament For ‘Emergency Surgery Days After Winning US Open Title

Prayers up for #TaylorTownsend!

The Tennis star has withdrawn from the Guadalajara Open due to “emergency surgery,” just days after clinching her first career Grand Slam title at the #USOpen. In a statement shared with the tournament Wednesday, Townsend explained she was heartbroken to pull out, noting the timing came “on the heels of achieving my first career Grand Slam.” She later posted on Instagram that the situation caught her off guard, and on Thursday shared a hospital photo showing her hand taped up, promising fans an update soon.

Townsend and doubles partner Kateina Siniaková won the US Open women’s doubles final last Friday, defeating Ashlyn Krueger and Robin Montgomery 5-7, 6-0, 6-2. The pair, who also won at #Wimbledon in 2024, the Australian Open in 2025, and this year’s French Open, have built a strong partnership over time.
