Jermaine Dupri is laughing at one major “what if” from his career after revealing Bruno Mars still jokes about the time the legendary producer passed on signing him.

Dupri shared a playful Instagram exchange after reaching out to praise Mars’ recent show. JD told followers he texted Bruno to let him know the performance was “AMAZING!!!!!!” and “F*CKING AMAZING !!!!!”

Bruno’s response? “should’ve signed me” before adding, “appreciate you my brother.”

Dupri admitted he could not even argue, replying, “I definitely should’ve signed you.”

According to JD, the running joke started about four years ago during a Las Vegas dinner with Usher, Anderson .Paak and Mars, when Bruno reminded him that he once had a chance to sign him but did not take it.

Dupri also posted a video of Bruno keeping the joke alive, telling him, “let them know,” about passing on the future superstar.

Clearly, Bruno is not letting JD forget this one anytime soon.
