Charles Barkley Says Donald Trump Has Made It “Popular To Be R@cist”: There’s No Consequences

Charles Barkley is sharing his thoughts on President Donald Trump and what he believes has happened to conversations surrounding race in America.

During a recent appearance on The Chris Cuomo Project, the NBA legend and longtime sports analyst criticized Trump, arguing that his presidency has made some people more comfortable openly expressing racist views.

Barkley said:

“I think one of the worst things about Trump, he’s made it popular to be racist. There’s no consequences for being racist now.”

He continued by saying some people now wear racism like a “badge of courage,” adding that he believes Trump should denounce it and has instead made racism “more acceptable.”

Elsewhere in the conversation, Barkley said people with racist views previously felt pressure to keep those beliefs private, but he believes that has changed. He also made clear that his political criticism isn’t limited to Republicans, criticizing some Democratic positions involving ICE, policing, prisons and socialism during the same interview.
