Rick Ross’ Felony Strangulation Charge Dropped, Still Faces Misdemeanor Domestic Violence Charge

Rapper Rick Ross is no longer facing a felony str*ngulation charge following his arr*st earlier this month in connection with an alleged domestic v*olence incident involving his girlfriend. However, prosecutors are moving forward with a misdemeanor b@ttery charge.

According to NBC 6 South Florida, Ross, whose legal name is William Leonard Roberts II, was originally arr*sted on October 1 on charges of felony batt*ry by str•ngulation and misdemeanor b•ttery. Both original charges have since been dropped, but Florida prosecutors have filed one misdemeanor battery/domestic v+olence charge.

The Grammy-nominated rapper is scheduled to be arraigned Friday (October 30) and has pleaded not guilty.

The allegations stem from an August 28 incident at Ross’ Star Island residence in Miami Beach.

According to the arrest report, the woman alleged that Ross became enraged after seeing her tagged in an Instagram photo. She claimed he questioned her about another man before repeatedly str•king her.

The report also alleges that Ross ch*ked the woman, grabbed her by her ponytail and sl•mmed her against a wall. Police said she provided photographs of her injuries, and investigators obtained surveillance footage related to the alleged incident.

Ross has denied the allegations.

His attorney, Brad Horenstein, previously defended the rapper, stating:

“Mr. Ross is innocent.”

He also questioned the allegations, saying:

“There are serious doubts about this case. These are fabrications.”

Horenstein urged the public to withhold judgment, adding:

“We asked you to hold your judgment and wait because the truth will come out.”

Although the original charges have been dropped, the case remains active as prosecutors pursue the misdemeanor domestic v•olence b*ttery charge.

Ross maintains his innocence.
