“Reasonable Doubt” Star Emayatzy Corinealdi Addresses Fans Who Feel Jax Stewart’s Addiction Storyline Undermines
Her Image As A Strong Black Woman

#ReasonableDoubt star Emayatzy Corinealdi has a message for fans upset over Jax Stewart’s latest storyline.

During a recent appearance on “The Big Tigger Morning Show,” the actress addressed backlash over her character’s struggles with pain pill addiction. ICYMI: Some viewers have made it clear they’re not happy seeing Jax, a successful and ambitious Black woman, seemingly take such a dark turn. However, Emayatzy offered a different POV, arguing that Jax’s struggles don’t erase her accomplishments or diminish who she is as a woman. She also challenged fans bothered by Jax’s journey to take a look in the mirror. As she put it, “There’s something there that’s uncomfortable… because we don’t like to see someone who has it together as much as this woman does, possibly go down this road.”

#TJBCrew, do y’all think this storyline takes away from Jax being a role model, or does it make her more relatable?
