Johnny Gill Says He Was Attacked By Racist White Man, Slaps Hotel With $1 Million Dollar Law
Johnny Gill is reportedly hitting a Beverly Hill hotel over 2011 incident that resulted in him being attacked by a racist, drunk White man. Wild, right? According to Courthouse News Service, Gill claims the assault occurred on August 23, 2011. In the lawsuit, the New Edition member filed at the Los Angeles Superior Court, stating that he was conversing with friends in the dining/cocktail area of the Four Seasons hotel at about 11 p.m. on the night of the altercation. Without provocation, he claims an unnamed Caucasian assailant allegedly began hurling racially inflammatory remarks at the performer.
So what’s the lawsuit about? News One reports that the lawsuit is based off of the hotel allegedly being negligent in protecting him from the patron. According to Gill, his assailant not only spewed racial insults his way but also pummeled him so severely that he could not perform. When the 47-year-old singer reportedly tried to fend off the altercation, the stranger allegedly pushed him with such brute force that he wound up getting slammed against a heated lamp that resulted in not only extensive bodily injury but pain and suffering. Gill is reportedly suing his assailant for medical expenses and loss of earnings because he claims he was unable to perform his duties as an entertainer. He says, not once did any of the hotel staff intervene during the altercation. Gill also alleges that the hotel’s cocktail lounge bartending staff also did not prevent the assailant from becoming inebriated, which allegedly led to his attack. According to the lawsuit, Gill is seeking $1 million in damages for the alleged wrongs inflicted upon him by the assailant.
