Shaunie O’Neal Planning Spin-Off With Kids ‘The Shaunie Project’ + Why Shaq’s Protesting New Show
After season 5, we knew that we’d never see Shaunie O’Neal, Evelyn Lozada, Suzie Ketcham, Tami Roman and Tasha Mabury back for another season. Immediately, after the reunion show, two cast members made it apparent that they’d like their own spin-off. The newly pregnant Evelyn said she’s all on-board for fans to focus on her going solo in the non-scripted genre. She explained:
Tami Roman, who began her days on MTV before reality TV was poppin’, is also working on being green-lit for her own spin-off. She confirmed her intentions sharing:
And apparently, there is one more BBall Wives cast member that’s set on introducing her own show to the TV world. Shaunie O’Neal (real name Va’Shaundya Karlette Nelson), the creator of the Basketball Wives franchise, has her own show under way. The 39-year-old mother of 5 is planning a show called, The Shaunie Project. According to reports, the show is less about entertaining bickering women, but solely focuses on Shaunie’s life and her children.
For example, cameras would follow her tackling normal everyday life for a mother. TMZ reports that one of the episodes would focus on Shaunie’s aversion to hitting the gym (which results in the reality star running a 5K marathon with her kids). Sounds much more innocent, right? Allegedly, her ex-husband, Shaquille O’Neal, ain’t feelin’ it and is adamant about not allowing his children (they have 4 children together) to appear on the show. We hear that Shaunie’s trying to get his buy in that the show is more family oriented. Reportedly, Shaq feels there are too many pressures imposed by producers — to be able to keep the show wholesome.
What’s more? Another concern is that ‘The Shaunie Project’ will end up showcasing a dysfunctional family that will hurt his kids, some of whom are having some issues already in school. Long story short, Shaunie will tell the judge she needs an emergency order so she can meet her deadlines. Filming begins January 2014. What are your thoughts on ‘The Shaunie Project?’ and are you interested in watching her in this type of environment?
