[EXCLUSIVE] Spike Lee Forced to Return to Court Over George Zimmerman Tweet
Last month, Spike Lee (real name Shelton Jackson “Spike” Lee) scored a legal victory over the tweet he sent with the alleged address for the parents of George Zimmerman with a Florida judge throwing out the legal battle — but the legal battle isn’t over with the couple suing him filing an appeal, theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively reports.
Lee was sued by Elaine and David McClain for $1.2 million dollars last year, after he tweeted an address thinking it was George Zimmerman’s but it was actually the elderly couples Florida home address. Lee reached out and apologized and paid them $10K as part of a settlement. However, the couple filed suit despite the settlement claiming they were still receiving hate mail and threats along with suffering from anxiety and fear. They also had to move out of their home as a result of Lee’s tweet.
