(EXCLUSIVE) Sir Mix-A-Lot: I Don’t Owe Ex Partner a DIME For Nicki Minaj Sampling My Music!
theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively reports, Sir Mix-A-Lot (real name Anthony Ray) is blasting his former music partner – who filed suit against the “Baby Got Back” rapper over unpaid royalties including Nicki Minaj’s sampling of the 80’s hit – claiming the man isn’t owed a dime and demands the legal battle be thrown out of court.
A musician named David Ford filed a federal lawsuit against Sir Mix A-Lot accusing him of screwing him out of profits made from Nicki Minaj’s hit song “Anaconda”.
Ford explained that in the late 80’s and early 90’s he collaborated with Sir Mix A-Lot on various songs. He says that in the 80’s he started listening to mixtapes and decided he wanted to do what those artists were creating and taught himself how to DJ along with break dance. Ford says eventually he became a well known DJ in Washington.
Then in 1988 … Ford said he met Nasty Nes who ran a record story in the area who introduced him to Sir Mix A-Lot.
