Matt Barnes Denies Trolling Derek Fisher
Matt Barnes says he absolutely, positively was not trolling for Derek Fisher on Instagram. As previously reported, folk thought that the NBA player took a dig at Fisher, when he posted a photo on the social media site, just moments after it was announced that he had been fired from the Knicks. Barnes says his post was innocent, telling the New York Daily News:
I liked what I was wearing. That’s it. That’s all it was.
The Grizzlies forward adds,
It kind of is what it is. People assume what they want to assume. I learned my lesson from talking and doing what I did. I got fined a lot of money. So I just kind of stay out of that situation now.
As you know, last year Barnes and Fisher had a massive altercation, which resulted in Barnes allegedly attacking Fisher. The incident was reportedly over Fisher’s relationship with Barnes’ estranged wife, Gloria Govan.
The incident cost Barnes $35,000 and a two-game suspension.
After it was announced that Fisher was fired, Knicks president Phil Jackson said that the love triangle wasn’t a factor in Fisher’s firing. Barnes says he has ‘no thoughts’ on Fisher’s firing. [New York Daily News]
