(EXCLUSIVE) Ex-NFL star Clinton Portis – Baby Mama Demands Payment Despite Bankruptcy
theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively reports, ex-NFL star Clinton Portis is being accused of not paying his baby mama 40k+ he owes her from their paternity battle and she has headed to court demanding his debt to her not be wiped clean in his bankruptcy.
Back in December, Portis filed for bankruptcy saying he owed $5 million to various creditors but had $13 million in assets – with 10 million of that chunk not guaranteed and it’s listed as potential money from 2 companies he is currently suing – this despite pulling in over $43 million during his nine seasons in the NFL.
The former Denver Broncos running back listed his debt breakdown, owing 500k to his mother, 500k to a former football reporter, over $1 million to a mortgage company, nearly 400k to the IRS, over 287k to MGM Grand Hotel and Casino and various other creditors.
Portis also said he currently owes 412k in back domestic support to 4 different women. He also only has $150 in his checking account. His current monthly income is only $7,500 but he has expenses totaling almost 13k per month.
Portis lists only $150 in his checking account. However, he is currently involved in 2 nasty legal battles with Pro Sports Financial for $8 million over a failed casino investment along with $2 million case against Jade Private Wealth Management.
The former NFL star was also hit with a 170k lawsuit by Borgata Hotel & Casino accusing him of fraud by taking out a line of credit at the casino despite him knowing he did not have the funds. They demanded the debt not be cleared in his bankruptcy and he still be on the hook for the 170k. Portis responded to the casino denying he ever committed fraud and said the suit should be thrown out of court.
Then on March 11th, Lashundra Jones, the NFL star’s baby mama, filed docs in the bankruptcy demanding he pay up on over 40k she was awarded in a separate legal battle with Portis.
She explains that she sued Portis for paternity in Florida Court back in 2008. The case has been going on for years.
The judge presiding over the case ordered the NFL star to pay her a total of $40,542.50 in attorney fees back in November. However, she claims that he didn’t the judgement prior to him filing for bankruptcy.
Jones is demanding that the judge life the automatic bankruptcy stay (which prevents creditors from continuing to go after a debtor for debt during a bankruptcy) and allow her to start going after Portis for the 40k+ he owes her from the paternity case. The judge has yet to make a decision on the matter.
