(EXCLUSIVE) Ludacris – Judge Sides With Rapper, Throws Out Disturbing tha Peace Lawsuit
theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively reports, Ludacris can breathe a little easier, following 3+ years of battling a Texas couple over his record label “Disturbing tha Peace” — with a federal court judge siding with the rapper and finally throwing out the case.
Back in 2012, Demetri and Donna Evans-Brown filed suit against the rapper/actor accusing him of fraudulently using their trademark by running his record label under the name “Disturbing tha Peace”.
The couple ran a Texas-based audio equipment business and musical recording company named “Disturb The Peace”.
They demanded the court award damages and an injunction against Luda ordering him to change his label name.
Then months later, the rapper slapped the couple with a counter-suit in federal court accusing them of not even using their trademark and claiming he had filed all the proper paperwork and owned the mark fair and square.
Ludacris demanded the judge award him damages, throw out the couple’s original lawsuit against him and an injunction ordering them to stop using his mark.
The legal battle has been dragging over for over 3 years with Demetri filing numerous motions against Ludacris and even becoming incarcerated during the course of the case.
Then on April 7th, the judge finally reached his decision after the 3+ years of the case being before the court … and he sided with Ludacris by dismissing all claims in the original complaint and awarding the Texas couple nothing from their lawsuit.
