Tina Lawson Dishes On Beyonce’s ‘Lemonade’: It could be about anyone’s marriage.
Tina Lawson says that some of the public may be missing the mark, when it comes to her daughter Beyonce’s new album, Lemonade. During an interview with ABC 13, she says,
People make it all about the cheating and betrayal and, yes, that’s a part of it because that is something you have to heal from. If you really listen to the poetry it is one of hope and redemption and hopefully that can be healing for people.
She added,
It could be about anyone’s marriage. I think that everybody at one time or another has been betrayed and lied to and it’s about the pain–and it’s about the healing process–and it’s about how do you get past that and move on.
She also recalls a moment in a past relationship, when family helped her overcome heartbreak.
I remember my first little pity party and I called them crying and you know, they all came. We had a slumber party, we watched old movies all night and ate ice cream–it was very healing.

While I don’t know if Jay-Z cheated on Beyoncé nor is it my business, I agree with Mrs. Lawson. This song could apply to anyone’s relationship like most songs do. People have personal connections to music regardless of the topics.
