Donald Glover Joins ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’
Donald Glover is in talks to join the cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The film is a reboot of its Spider-Man franchise, which it has partnered with Marvel to produce, and the movie is due to begin production later in June.
Tom Holland is starring as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in a story that takes the character back to his high-school roots. The movie has been quietly casting up and the roll call includes Michael Keaton as a villain, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, and Zendaya as the female lead.
Details of Glover’s character are being kept secret.
Glover is an actor, writer, comedian and musician. As a recording artist, he performs with the stage name Childish Gambino. While as a disk jockey, he performs under the name mcDJ. He first came to attention for his work with Derrick Comedy and with the help of Tina Fey, was hired at the age of 21 to become a writer for the NBC comedy series 30 Rock. He later played college student Troy Barnes on the NBC sitcom Community. After several self-released albums and mixtapes, Glover signed to Glassnote Records in 2011 as Childish Gambino. He released Camp on Glassnote on November 15, 2011. His second studio album, Because the Internet, was released on December 10, 2013. Glover was nominated for two Grammy Awards in 2015, Best Rap Album for Because the Internet and Best Rap Performance for his single “3005”.
