(EXCLUSIVE) Reality Star Karlie Redd Sues Music Company Over Unpaid Royalties

theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively reports, Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta’s Karlie Redd is accusing a music company of epically screwing up the release of her music, by failing to get national airplay for her single and screwing her out of royalties. And now, the reality star has hit them with a lawsuit demanding the judge order them to pay up. The reality star filed suit against Wabejon Entertainment and founder Eric Miller.

Back in 2014, Redd explains she entered into a deal with the music company under which Wabejon and her company would partner to market and promote her single “Heart Breaker”.

The deal also had the company acting as distributor of the single and gave Wabjeon the right to first refusal for her second single “Alright Alright”. The song was released for sale on Itunes, Spotify, Amazon, Google Play and other outlets.

Redd claims per their deal, the company was required to pay her a minimum recoupable budget of $45k per release for the marketing and promotion.

Wabejon was also required to provide Redd with free promotional CDs for each release in an amount equal to 10% of the number of CDs sold for that release. They were to secure national airplay within 30 days of the contract being signed and also video distribution from a major television video distribution network within 30 days of her submitting the final music video to the company.

Redd says she agreed to terminate the deal with Wabejon, due to them not paying her the $45k for the marketing and promotion, not providing her with the promotional CDs, not securing airplay or video distribution for the music video.

The reality star also says that after accounting for the reasonable expenses spent on the promotion, the company still owes her $9k in royalties from the sales of “Heart Breaker”.

She says she made numerous attempts to contract them and make arrangements for them to pay her royalties. Redd accuses Wabejon of deceitful & illegal activity and diverting the funds owed to her elsewhere.

Redd filed suit demanding the court grant her a restraining order against the company which would freeze their assets along with the $9k in unpaid royalties along with unspecified punitive damages for their actions. Wabejon has yet to respond to the lawsuit and the case is pending in Georgia Court.
