False Alarm! Nelly Did NOT Propose To Girlfriend Shantel Jackson [Photos]

False alarm. Nelly and his girlfriend Shantel Jackson are not engaged. Over the weekend, a photo of the pair posted by Shantel led some to believe that the St. Louis rapper had popped the question.

However, Nelly took to his Instagram letting us know that they aren’t engaged, but he plans to pop the question in the future. He wrote:

Not yet y’all give us alil mo time….. P.S……..But we working on it..!!!!

Both Shantel and Nelly began dating publicly in 2014.

Prior to dating Nelly, Shantel was engaged to Floyd Mayweather, Jr. The two had a not so pleasant split, which trickled on social media.

Prior to Shantel, Nelly dated singer Ashanti and was rumored to date Lashontae Reckard, who shares a child with NBA player Brandon Jennings.

Last year, Shantel co-starred with Nelly on his BET reality show Nellyville, which began airing November 2014 and finished airing its second season. The series followed Nelly’s music and acting career and raising his four kids.
