(EXCLUSIVE) Jay Z & Damon Dash Win $7 Million Legal Battle Over Roc-A-Fella Logo
Jay Z & Damon Dash Win $7 Million Legal Battle Over Roc-A-Fella Logo
theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively reports, Jay Z shut down the man suing him for $7 million dollar over the Roc-A-Fella logo — in which the designer sued the music mogul and Damon Dash accusing them of screwing him out of royalties for his work. A federal court judge sided with the mogul and threw out the entire case after years of battling it out in court.
Here’s the latest: On September 26th, following years of battling it out in court the judge came back with his decision and sided with Jay Z by throwing out the entire case and awarding the man nothing.
He explains that Walker failed to provide any evidence of the alleged contract he claimed he signed, along with Damon Dash.
Further, the judge notes that the man’s testimony throughout the case was contradictory, self-serving and not based on first-hand knowledge. There were many other issues the judge found in the case and evidence presented by Walker, and therefore he believed the man didn’t have a case and ordered the entire lawsuit to be closed and awarded the man nothing from his $7 million complaint.
Here’s the backstory: A man named Dwayne Walker filed a federal lawsuit against Jay Z and Damon Dash, claiming he created the Roc-A-Fella logo and was owed $7 million dollars in royalties for his design.
Jay Z responded and filed a declaration in the case stating he doesn’t even have recollection of meeting the man. He explained he doesn’t believe Walker and his claim in the lawsuit that he signed a contract that would award him millions in royalties — because that is simply not something he would approve for Roc-A-Fella.
Jay also pleaded with the court to not force him to sit down for a deposition where he would be grilled about the allegations in the lawsuit.
