Beyonce Claims Feyonce Illegally Profited Off Her Name
theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively reports, Beyonce has returned to court demanding the judge grant her a default judgement and order the domain for the website be transferred to her & $35,000 to cover her legal bills.
Here’s the latest: On October 20th, Beyonce headed back to court, demanding a default judgement against Feyonce for failing to respond to her lawsuit.
The motion explains the defendants have been served with the legal docs and blew off responding to the allegations by the deadline.
She proposes the judge grant her a permanent injunction prohibiting them from never again selling any product that relates to her lyrics.
The singer also wants the domain feyonceshop.com be transferred to her along with $35k to cover her legal bills. The judge has yet to make a decision.
Here’s the backstory: Back in April, the singer sued the Texas-based company, Feyonce, accusing them of illegally profiting off her name and trademark and confusing her fans into thinking she endorsed their products.
The singer explained in her complaint that one of her biggest hits was “Single Ladies” was certified quadruple-platinum with more than 5 million downloads and is one of the best-selling singles of all time.
Beyonce claimed the company was capitalizing on the notoriety of her song by hawking merchandise online with such lyrics as “Put a ring on it” and even selling items bearing the Feyonce mark.
Like most singers, Beyonce owns the copyrights to her songs and likeness and sells her own merchandise and products to her millions of fans — which translates into millions of dollars in sales, which takes a hit when companies like Feyonce come along.
The pop star invested a considerable amount of time and money into creating her brand and she demanded Feyonce be hit with an injunction ordering them to cease selling their products and all the profits they made from infringing on her marks.
