Carlos King Talks New TV Deal & Tyler Perry

Producer Carlos King is making power moves. King, who has produced hit shows like Real Housewives of Atlanta, Love and Hip Hop Atlanta and Hollywood Divas has a new inked a deal with ITV America for his Kingdom Reign Entertainment. Recently, we spoke to King about his new deal, who he looks up to in the industry and what’s next. Read the interview below.

theJasmineBRAND.com: Congrats on your new deal. Was this always the goal?

Carlos King: It was always my goal to take my company, Kingdom Reign Entertainment, to the next level and partnering with ITV is doing just that. I am excited about this partnership and look forward to making groundbreaking television for everyone to enjoy!

For those of us who don’t work in the non scripted TV world, what does this deal mean?

To not bore with you the long details, it pretty much means my company will work under ITV to produce scripted and non scripted content for networks.

Are there others in the industry you look up to and why?

I definitely look up to Tyler Perry. He’a an African American male who is the CEO of his company and the CEO of his vision [lol] when it comes to his storytelling. When I got a chance to work with him, I immediately saw a gifted man who not only has an intense focus but loves what he does. On top of that, he employs several African Americans to work for his company so he’s a mentor to everyone including me. And lastly, he is a very nice person which is why God is continuing to bless him.

We know you’re always secretly working on a new show. When can we expect the next one and can you give us any hints?

You know I move in silence soooo… the hints I can share is that we are coming out bigger and louder with content that is going to take shows to the next level. I feel really confident about that. And of course, you will have the exclusive once I am allowed to announce!
