Gabrielle Union & BET Reach Settlement Over ‘Being Mary Jane’ Lawsuit
Gabrielle Union & BET Reach Settlement
All is well legally, between Gabrielle Union and BET. Both the network and actress have reached a settlement over Union’s multimillion dollar breach of contract lawsuit against the network. The network shared in a statement,
BET Networks is pleased to announce that they have reached an amicable agreement with Gabrielle Union and look forward to sharing the new season of Being Mary Jane with its loyal fans beginning January 10, 2017.
As previously reported, in October, Union filed a lawsuit alleging BET and the show’s producers had reneged on an agreement that stated that she’d have a significant break between the 10-episode fourth and fifth seasons of Being Mary Jane. Union’s suit argued that BET and Being Mary Jane producers did not agree to the previously determined deal aside and attempted to have production run back-to-back and costs cut. She was seeking general damages of at least $3 million. Breakdown Productions, the producers for the series, was also a defendant in the suit.
