WH Explains Sasha Obama’s Absence

Sasha Obama was noticeably missing during President Obama’s farewell speech. During his speech Tuesday night, Obama thanked his wife, Michelle, and daughters Malia and Sasha for sacrificing for his political dreams.

Sasha, the president’s younger daughter, was not in attendance and of many on Twitter questioned her whereabouts.

So where was Sasha? CBS News correspondent Mark Knoller tweeted:

Where was Sasha? WH Official says she stayed back in DC tonight because she has an exam at school tomorrow morning.

Reportedly, the 15-year-old attends Sidwell Friends, a highly selective DC school.

On the school’s website, exam protocols include guidelines that

students must adhere to the published examination schedule. Absence for travel is not an adequate reason to re-schedule an exam.
