EXCLUSIVE: Young Thug Demands Judgement Be Dismissed: I didn’t know I was being sued!
Young Thug Demands Judgement Be Dismissed
theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively reports, Young Thug has headed to court demanding a $190k judgment against him be thrown out, arguing he had no idea he was even being sued. He accuses a concert promoter of attempting to serve the wrong person with the legal docs.
A Kentucky concert promoter named The Duelle Network Group sued Thug accusing him of screwing them over by blowing off a scheduled concert in Louisville.
They claimed Thug engaged in a pattern of fraudulent conduct that resulted in them incurring considerable expenses and damages, relating to a concert to take place in Louisville.
According to court docs, Thug blew off the legal battle despite being served with the legal papers in November 2015. The judge grew tired of waiting around and granted a default judgement for $39,500 in damages plus and additional $150k for a total of $189,500 plus interest.
The company then headed to Georgia court and filed new legal docs to register the out-of-state judgement. They explained Thug hadn’t paid them anything toward the $189k owed from the court order.
The company took the first step to begin the process of seizing assets of property owned by Thug and they filed docs in Georgia due to it being the rapper’s home.
In April, the judge came back and sided with The Duelle Network Group, ordering Thug to pay up on the $189,500 judgment ASAP. Further, he ordered him to pay all court costs for the company having to drag him to court once again.
The case was closed until earlier this month, when Thug headed to court blasting the default judgement and trying to have it throw out.
He explained that the address the plaintiff claimed to have served him at isn’t where he lives. He also says that he never resided at that address and pointed out they even had his name wrong on the papers. The rapper argued that due to both mistakes, he was legally never served and therefore never knew about the case.
Thug says his home address is readily available online by searching Google, saying a website not only identities his actual address but provides photos of the home.
He is demanding the default judgement of $190k be thrown out and the lawsuit be put on hold until he files his actual response to the suit.
