T.I. To Star & Produce “Glow Up” Musical
T.I. (real name Clifford Harris) will star in a music drama called, Glow Up, according to reports. The rapper, actor and activist will also produce along with Robbie Brenner, Kevin McKeon, and his producing partner, Brian Sher. Justin Francis will direct.
The project follows,
The lives and struggles of an all-girl high school performance group at an underfunded Los Angeles United School District school, who use their talents to try and save their financially-strapped music program by competing in a national singing competition with a huge cash prize. But when the group’s leader can no longer participate, they struggle to see how their charismatic, yet unconventional, new lead singer can shepherd them to the height of their dreams.
In 2006, T.I. starred in his first film, ATL, which was loosely based on the rapper’s life growing up in Atlanta and attending a skating rink called “Cascade”. In 2007, T.I. appeared in his second feature-film, the biographical crime film American Gangster, as Stevie Lucas, the nephew of drug kingpin Frank Lucas. In 2010, he starred in the crime action thriller film Takers. T.I. also starred in the 2013 crime comedy film Identity Thief, appearing as a criminal named Julian, alongside actress Genesis Rodriguez. In 2015, T.I. starred in Get Hard alongside Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart, and also appeared as himself in the Entourage movie. He co-starred in Marvel’s film Ant-Man, starring Paul Rudd.
