Kanye West Rumored To Open Restaurant In California, Inspired By His Late Mother
Rumor has it, Kanye West is extending his portfolio to restaurant owner. Mr. West has been shopping around the Calabasas area, looking for spaces to house his new venture, according to reports. While the restaurant has yet to conceive a name, the menu is said to be inspired by the food his mother -Donda West- cooked when they lived in Chicago.
Many might be curious where West might have gotten the idea to open a restaurant from. It said to be from rap colleague, Nas who owns Sweet Chick in New York and Los Angeles.
West has dabbled in the restaurant industry before. In 2008, the fashion designer launched his company KW Foods, LLC and purchased the rights to the Fatburger food chain in Chicago. With plans to open at
least 10 locations, only three got to see the light of day. According to reports, by 2009, all three were eventually shut down.
West’s mother, Donda West passed away on November 10th, 2007, a day after having cosmetic surgery. It’s reported that on the day prior, received a breast reduction, liposuction and tummy tuck opting to return home for post-op care. Allegedly, the next day, she experienced a sore throat and pain with tightening in her chest. Reportedly, she was collapsed that evening and after being rushed to the hospital was pronounced dead in the emergency room. According to the coroner report,
Ms. West is said to have taken up to “20 pain-killing Vicodins in less than 24 hours,” which contributed to her passing.
If this is true, what do you think the name of the restaurant will be?
