South African Hip Hop Artist ProKid Dies After Suffering A Seizure
Very sad news. South African hip-hop artist, Linda ‘ProKid’ Mkhize has passed away. He was 37 years old. His family has confirmed that the rapper died after suffering a seizure on Wednesday night. He was visiting friends when the seizure occurred. The family said in a statement:
The legendary SA Hip Hop artist affectionately known as ProKid of Hip Hop passed away on Wednesday [August 8]. He suffered a severe seizure attack whilst visiting friends and paramedics were called in to assist. They did their best to revive him to no avail and called his time of death at 20:38.
ProKid was a legend in the South African hip-hop scene, paving the way for many young MCs after him. Music producer Sketchy Bongo says of ProKid:
It’s a huge shock to the industry. He was one of the most prolific MCs in hip-hop in South Africa. He was one of the pioneers. He started doing this stuff before hip-hop was everywhere and popular in South Africa. He just opened a lot of doors for people and it’s sad that he didn’t really get the recognition now for the amount influence he actually made on the industry.
Our condolence to ProKid, his family and fans.
