Nicki Minaj – I’m The Harriet Tubman Of Rap!
Nicki Minaj Considers Herself To Be The Harriet Tubman Of Rap
On Monday, Nicki Minaj went on another Twitter rant in which she went back into the history books to drop names.
It all started when Nicki was promoting Tuesday’s episode of Queen Radio on Instagram. She revealed that she would be giving out “a plethora of awards” and concluded by saying,
“real queens shake shit up.”
One of her followers commented under the photo,
“Sis talk ya sh*t! Like Rosa Parks said, she could’ve freed more slaves if they knew they were slaves.”
The quote resonated with Nicki, who also had to correct her fan by letting them know that this quote was rumored to be said by Harriet Tubman, not Rosa Parks.
Nicki then took to Twitter to shake things up some more. She tweeted:
“All the QUEENS I remember, SHOOK SHIT UP!!!!!!!! Queen of the week may go to HARRIET TUBMAN!!!!!! Had she just sat there & ate her rice, you niggaz history would’ve been a lot less triumphant.”
The tweet garnered a lot of attention, confusion and some obvious backlash. It got so much attention that it became a trending topic. Nicki returned later with another Harriet inspired tweet. According to Nicki, if it wasn’t for her fighting for streams to count towards Billboard sales, many artists wouldn’t be where they are today:
“Y’all I had no idea Harriet Tubman was now trending. I said what I said.
#QueenRadio will honor her tmrw. She said she could’ve rescued more slaves had they known they were slaves. I fought for streaming services to count toward billboard when alotta niggz stayed quiet.”
Ahead of her performance at the VMA’s Monday night, Nicki was asked about what she had to say to the backlash she’s faced over her comments. To that, she simply answered,
“I am the new Harriet Tubman!”
