Kobe Bryant’s Team Denies Rumors That He Will Play In Ice Cube’s Big 3 League
Earlier this week, rumors began circulating that Kobe Bryant, who retired from the NBA in 2016, would be dusting off his Nikes to play in Ice Cube’s Big 3 basketball league.
The Big 3 is a 3-on-3 touring basketball league founded in 2017 by Ice Cube and Jeff Kwatinetz. The league features retired NBA players as both players and coaches and just recently wrapped its second season. While it would have been amazing to see Kobe join the likes of Amar’e Stoudemire, Metta World Peace, Mike Bibby and Chauncey Billups once again, sources close to the Black Mamba say it’s just not happening.
Reportedly, Jeff Kwatinetz made the announcement that Kobe was joining the Big 3 on the league’s weekly conference call. However, Molly Carter, chief marketing officer of Kobe Inc., says otherwise. According to Brian Mahoney, NBA writer for the Associated Press, he spoke to Carter who says
“he definitely is not playing next year.”
In the meantime, Kobe can continue to coach his daughter Gigi who clearly has his skills on the court.
