Monica & Her Sons’ Father Rocko Have Each Other Blocked On Social Media

Singer Monica, showed love to the important men in her life on Father’s Day (June 21st) while revealing she has the father of her two sons, rapper Rocko, blocked on Instagram while they co-parent.  Wishing him a Happy Father’s Day she wrote,

“Happy Fathers Day Rock… There have been peaks and valleys, but I’m proud of us in this very moment!! Our boys need you & all I will ever ask is that you keep your promise to give them the father you didn’t have! Teach them your resilience, business savvy & [no] nonsense policy out there in that world!! Lil Rock is already talking Realestate talk to me thanks to you ! You’re appreciated! I would’ve @ ‘d you but we blocked each other a few years ago so I couldn’t … PS we were soul as hell 20yrs ago … HFD”

The on and off couple of 10 years were engaged for five years before their split in 2009, she made the announcement on Twitter.

“Thank you everyone for all the love your sending. @Rocko4Real is a great father and we will continue to love and parent our children . The rest is a private matter between @Rocko4Real and I. He is a good person. We all make mistakes. Even seperated we will always be family…”

Monica, who met Rocko when she was 19, addressed rumors that the breakup was because Rocko reportedly cheated on her.

“It was a situation I didn’t ask to be in, so to speak. Once something is put up on a Web site and things about your personal life are spread all around, it’s unfortunate,”

She continued,

“I don’t even know specifically who they spoke to, but I do know that I never felt so… I guess the word would be confused more than anything else. If you go to sleep and you wake up and you see something for the first time, it’s a little scary, you know. I’m too grown now to go investigating leads. The reality is that I have to play my position as their mom and do what it is that’s best for me.”

The following year, Monica met her husband, NBA player Shannon Brown in June 2010 while on set shooting her music video for her second single “Love All Over Me.”  It was reported that later that year on November 22, 2010, Monica married Shannon Brown in a secret ceremony at their Los Angeles home.

In March 2019, after one child and 9 years together, Monica filed for divorce from Shannon Brown.   The couple also co co-parent their daughter Laiyah. Monica left a sweet message to him on Father’s Day as well saying,

“Happy Fathers Day Shannon… Laiyah does not play about you (check her face in this picture lol) I admire your love for Laiyah on so many levels ! I would never allow your presence & purpose in her life to be diminished in any way! As her Mom , I thank you for always letting her know she’ll always have you to run to! (Hence the last slide) LOL Many Blessings on this day & each that follows!”
