Janet Jackson Nominated For A 3rd Time Into Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, LL Cool J Nominated For A 5th Time
Congratulations to Janet Jackson! The 52-year-old singer, along with 15 nominees, are on the shortlist for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2019. Others in consideration include LL Cool J, Rufus feat. Chaka Khan, Def Leppard, Devo, John Prine, Kraftwerk, MC5, Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine, Roxy Music, Stevie Nicks, The Cure, Todd Rundgren and The Zombies.
This is Jackson’s third nomination, following recommendations in 2016 and 2017.
This also isn’t LL Cool J’s first nomination, as he was nominated for a fifth time. If selected, he would become the seventh hip-hop act to be inducted.
Other candidates who have been passed over include Kraftwerk (4), MC5 (3), The Zombies (3), Rage Against the Machine (2), Rufus feat. Chaka Khan (2) and The Cure (1).
Generally, about five to seven nominees each year are voted into the hall, located in Cleveland, Ohio. Past inductees and industry experts vote on who gets in, and fans have a ballot, too. Winners are announced in December, with the 34th annual ceremony scheduled for March 29 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.
