Oprah Responds To Racist Robocalls Targeting Her And Stacy Abrams – “Jesus don’t like ugly”
Oprah has been open in her support of Stacy Abrams for governor of Georgia. Just days after Vice President Mike Pence called out Oprah and Will Ferrell for supporting Abrams, racist robocalls have been going out emulating the voice of the talk show queen.
The recordings, which began circulating around Georgia last week, begin:
This is the magical negro, Oprah Winfrey, asking you to make my fellow negress, Stacey Abrams, the governor of Georgia. Years ago, the Jews who own the American media saw something in me – the ability to trick dumb white women into thinking I was like them,” the voice continues. “I see that same potential in Stacey Abrams.
The racist and anti-semitic recordings were paid for by The Road to Power, a group organized by Scott Rhodes of Idaho. Rhodes has been tied to similar racist recordings targeting Florida’s Democratic candidate Andrew Gillum. Both Abrams and her opponent Brian Kemp have condemned the recordings. Yesterday, while wearing a t-shirt that reads “VOTE” Oprah spoke out.
I heard people were making racist robocalls in my name against Stacey Abrams, who I am 100% for, in Georgia. I just want to say: Jesus don’t like ugly … And we know what to do about that: vote. Tomorrow, show up and show out, and vote.
