Michelle Obama Says Donald Trump’s Birther Scandal Threatened Her Family’s Safety & She’ll Never Forgive Him
Former first lady Michelle Obama is coming clean about how she felt about Donald Trump during the whole birther scandal and calls him misogynistic over the intimidation tactics he used during the 2016 presidential debate.
In her memoir, which comes out Tuesday, she says Trump used body language to “stalk” Hillary Clinton during a debate, referring to the way he would hover over the presidential hopeful as she spoke.
She says that he intended to send the message:
“I can hurt you and get away with it.”
Michelle also says she would never forgive Trump over what he did to her family during the birther scandal. She revealed that his accusations were a threat to her family’s safety.
What if someone with an unstable mind loaded a gun and drove to Washington? What if that person went looking for our girls? Donald Trump, with his loud and reckless innuendos, was putting my family’s safety at risk. And for this, I’d never forgive him.
She continues,
It was crazy and mean-spirited, of course, its underlying bigotry and xenophobia hardly concealed. But it was also dangerous, deliberately meant to stir up the wingnuts and kooks.
Michelle Obama’s book also touches on Trump’s Access Hollywood “Grab em by the p*ssy” comments, which she says had her “body buzzed with fury.”
It was an expression of hatred that had generally been kept out of polite company, but still lived in the marrow of our supposedly enlightened society — alive and accepted enough that someone like Donald Trump could afford to be cavalier about it.
Michelle Obama’s book release will be accompanied by a multi-city tour. Will you be attending?
