Jury For Nicki Minaj’s Brother Rape Case Will Be Interviewed After Suspensions Of Juror Misconduct
Jelani Maraj has been residing in jail as he awaits for a hopeful retrial, after he was convicted of allegedly raping his, at the time, 11-year-old stepdaughter repeatedly. Maraj’s mother Carol – who is also the mother to superstar rapper Nicki Minaj – has been fighting the courts to issue in new jurors, as she has consequently accused the jury of juror misconduct. As previously reported, Ms. Carol has been shedding light on how the jurors have been mistreating the trial, alleging that one juror stated since Nicki didn’t come to testify for her brother essentially
means he is guilty.

Ms. Carol details her claims stating an alternate juror has been speaking with the media about Jelani’s conviction ahead of necessary testimonials. Good news as swept in, though. As of Friday, Nassau County Supreme Court Judge Robert McDonald has called for all jurors to return to the courtroom, as they will be interviewed separately about the alternate juror’s actions and accusations.
In a statement in court, McDonald stated how the fellow jurors have,
expressed their belief that Jelani Maraj was guilty early on in the trial.
Claiming the alternate juror is not the only one making up their minds without necessary evidence. Last month, we reported the rape case would receive an inquiry after there were suspicions the jury had been leaking information to the media.
Reports claim McDonald has persistently spoke with the jurors about discussing the trial prior to testimonies being completed. If granted a retrial, witnesses who have already testified would be subject to take the stand once again.
