Michelle Obama On The “Lean In” Approach For Women in the Workplace – “That Sh-t Doesn’t Work All The Time”

Michelle Obama is not biting her tongue when it comes to women’s rights and it’s leaving a few people shook.

In 2013, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg released a book entitled “Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will”, in which she encourages women to promote themselves individually as “marketable consumer objects” by practicing negotiating tactics and striving for leadership roles, but at the same time some say she downplays gender bias in the workplace.

Michelle Obama had a thing or two to say about this line of thinking and failure to acknowledge that gender bias exists. During her appearance at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn or her Becoming book tour, she says:

That whole ‘so you can have it all.’ Nope, not at the same time. That’s a lie. And it’s not always enough to lean in, because that sh-t doesn’t work all the time.

After the crowd went wild at the thought of Michelle saying “sh-t”, she quickly apologized.

I forgot where I was for a moment!

So far, it does not appear that Stenberg has responded to Michelle Obama publicly. Whos side are you on? Let us know in the comments.
