McDonald’s USA launched Black & Positively Golden, a new campaign movement designed to uplift communities and inspire excellence.
It highlighted all things positive in the culture and focused on stories of truth, power and pride, while celebrating Black excellence through education, empowerment and entrepreneurship.
The campaign kicked off Friday in Los Angeles’ Leimert Park neighborhood with Black & Positively Golden Day, an interactive, community event designed to shine a light on African-American culture and demonstrate the power of words to inspire Black excellence.
Insecure co-star Yvonne Orji made an appearance, engaged with loyal fans and joined in all the excitement.
Singer Normani gave a special performance for the crowd.
Music artist Moses Stone performed the Black & Positively Golden anthem that underscored the campaign’s television spot, which debuted nationally during the 50th NAACP Image Awards.
DJ Damage served as the event’s DJ with bites from McDonald’s mobile restaurant.
One of the greatest highlights of the night was the co-creation of a transformative empowerment mural led by LA-based artist Enkone.
Stars and community attendees alike left their mark on the one-of-a-kind artwork, as they added their own words of affirmation to the wall.
Up Next: The Black & Positively Golden campaign also will be supported through a series of events throughout 2019. First up is McDonald’s Inspiration Celebration Gospel Tour set to kick off in late April, followed by consumer experiences at BET Experience and Essence Festival. In addition, Black & Positively Golden will provide $60,000 in scholarships to foster educational empowerment among HBCU students through its partnership with Thurgood Marshall College Fund.
